Have we talked about this already?

Has anybody played here before? Seems like, with it’s “legality”, the chance for a larger amount of d0nkitude is there.

Is this the one that is fully ad supported? I read about it somewhere. Seems like a very good way to skirt the legality issue. Haven't played nor do I think we have discussed.

Is there something in the article that explains how they skirt the legality issue? What am I missing?

Ryan, if this is the one I'm thinking about, it's like a bar league. Everyone plays what are essentially freerolls with prize money for players who do the best. The purse is funded by companies who pay for advertising in the game window. The more you play, the longer you stay in tourneys, the more advertising you see.

Since no is paying any money into the prize pool, it is not "gambling." You are winning something for nothing.

From their site:

PurePlay was founded by two entrepreneurs who were frustrated with the unrealistic game play at multi-player online games sites. At most of these sites, players don't play competitively because there's no incentive to win and there's nothing at stake. At sites where there is an incentive to win, such as gambling sites, players can lose a lot of money. PurePlay's patented business model was developed to encourage people to play competitively to win prizes without requiring them to risk losing money. The only cost to customers is one low monthly fee.

OK, I guess this is a different site then. Not sure what the fully ad supported site was. I remember this one being mentioned on the boards and it was referred to as "paying to play in freerolls." Apparently a flat rate is good enough to avoid the online gambling laws. I don't figure the play to rate substantially better than other freerolls though especially since it is an all you can eat plan.
