Marty Farha pays a visit

Not sure if anyone noticed but we had a special visitor to TuNP last night. Not sure why, but there is something oddly therapeutic about d0nking off chips with hyper-loose calls. Maybe it was to offset my nittiness at the 1/2 tables in Las Vegas or whatever but it felt good to let my hair down last night. Shoving on Royal's check/raise with bottom pair on a three Heart board? No problem! D0nking off my stack with an overpair after Ryan clearly has that beat (nut straight)? Sign me up! 38 (soooooted!) to a raise against AK? I like my chances!

It used to be that I had Sunday Night Poker (on hiatus but will be returning soon btw) to use as my d0nking playground. And even when I play .10/.20 with the Asians I don't like throwing my chips around as much there because I can't "out-loose-play" some of those around me.

Anyway, just had to clear out the system so I'm better now. Don't expect me to throw a party every week but I don't think you'll be able to say that I don't give enough action either. We now return you to our regularly scheduled starting hand requirements.

Bottom pair on the three heart board?!

Sheesh. I almost feel like I should give your money back. almost.

Incidentally, bottom pair on my “big bluff“ hand against Joe would have taken it down. You just never know. So I say, keep it up, M.Farha!

I like Marty Farha, bring him around any time. :)

Yeah, I was positive that bottom pair was no good but called anyway. I also was pretty sure that Joe was good as well. Just verifying my reads that I was behind I guess. ;)

Not to worry. Marty Farha WILL RETURN!

Don't you normally play 2-5 Mr. Farha?

What did you have?!

I had A-10os, to give me a whole bunch of nothing. Would have looked like a straight if I threw it down real quick-like, though, as the board was KJ974.

I can't believe I missed out on Marty Farha last night. We could've had M. Farha and jtrey Farha in the same room!

In an effort to close up some holes that I’ve been aware of in my own game, I’m going to post Martin’s follow-up to my “I had A-10os” comment above. He sent it to me in an email, and with his permission I’m posting it here for more to see, so I can (hopefully) not have the same issues in the future. Here’s Martin’s reply:

OK, that was actually in reference to the guy in Marsh's post. Wasn't trying to pry out the bluff, I mean I wasn't even in that hand. OK, well maybe I saw the flop but you know what I mean. As for digesting the hand, I pretty much outed you at the time. My read was that it was an desperat-ish "go away, don't call me" overbet on the river. I think a set of Ks or Js would have tried to coax out another 150 or so. You also clammed up into rock mode which is another "don't call me" posture. You'd also figure that anyone with a set would try to talk Joe into calling with two pair. I can understand the move though since you had reverse-position and first to stab into a pot that had ballooned up plus you were successfully trading on your tight image. Anyway, nice hand. Just thought I'd give you some feedback on my observations on the hand...just don't use that info against me!
