One topic per post?
One player per hand. One topic per post? Not that I wouldn't do the same thing but do we want to make it convention that each post speaks on one topic only? If we have multiple topics then the comments can sprawl and it is harder to track the topic in question while having to wade through responses on other things. And if we start replying to posts via reply-posts instead of via comments then it will help keep things straight.

I'm down with one topic to a post, but are you suggesting I never do this as well, i.e., comment? I should start a new post called "re: one topic per post?"
If so, I don't agree with that. I want to see all responses to a post together underneath it if I want.
Yes, I was thinking of replying by post. This would a) allow users to monitor new content via RSS reader and b) let surfers know when there is new content without having to dig into the comments section. The content in the comments is as useful as the content in the posts and its a shame to have that stuff buried. I think Marsh mentioned the possibility of using forum software which would be awesome because it is easy to track updated items. Right now, if someoen comments on one of the earliest posts, chances are that no one will notice.
If you get email alerts, it will alert on comments as well as new posts.
I strongly disagree...in three months, if you "remember a good thread" you want to check out, do you want to click one link and see it all on one page, or do you want to sift through posts looking for ones that match the subject line of the original?
I definitely want to see all related comments in one place, and if you flip on email alerts, you will get instant emails when someone comments on any post...
re: one topic per post: Ya just to keep it sorted, but if you want to do more than one topic in a post nobody is going to stop you.
Just makes it easier to comment on is all. I think, like most things regarding stuff like this, a rule isn't necessary, rather that common sense will be our guide.
